Life has been boring around here lately.  Good boring, but boring.  I got a peaceful weekend recently when Daron and Jess opted for sleeping outside on the ground.  They visited Twin Falls and camped at Table Rock State Park with some good buddies.  The trip was reminiscent of the one from a few years back where the roomies won some kind of couple's challenge including games like dirt pictionary, frisbee relay, and throwing equine footwear at stakes in the ground...what they won't brag about.  This year the main challenge was catching falling leaves in transit.  They did not win.

They did...
Take a Nature Nap
Eat delicious food alfresco
Enjoy some beautiful scenery

Here are some photos stolen from this superior retelling/documenting of the weekend.

QB Beauty Contest

Here I am cheering on the Bucs.

With the NFL season kicking off this week, Daron tuned into the game and I decided to entertain myself with the league in a different way.  Beauty Pageant!  Actually, a who looks friendliest off their Google pics pageant, but close enough.  You know I love to rank and classify...

I broke down the boys and put them in order of facial friendliness first by divisions.  Then I took the front runners in each division for the final ranking. Joe Flacco got lucky by being in a particularly mean looking division where the boys in the AFC-East got hosed.  Here is the breakdown and final 1-8 ranking.

Joe Flacco- Baltimore Ravens
Brandon Weeden- Cleveland Browns
Andy Dalton- Cincinnati Bengals
Matt Roethlisberger- Pittsburgh Steelers

Jake Locker- Tennessee Titans
Blaine Gabbert- Jacksonville Jaguars
Andrew Luck- Indianapolis Colts
Matt Schaub- Houston Texans

AFC- East
Ryan Fitzpatrick-Buffalo Bills
Tom Brady- New England Patriots
Mark Sanchez- New York Jets
Ryan Tannehill- Miami Dolphins

AFC- West
Matt Cassel- Kansas City Cheifs
Philip Rivers- San Diego Chargers
Carson Palmer- Oakland Raiders
Peyton Manning- Denver Broncos

NFC- North
Matthew Stafford- Detroit Lions
Christian Ponder-Minnesota Vikings
Aaron Rodgers- Green Bay Packers
Jay Cutler- Chicago Bears

Josh Freeman- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Matt Ryan- Atlanta Falcons
Cam Newton- Carolina Panthers
Drew Brees- New Orleans Saints

NFC- East
Robert Griffin III
Tony Romo-Dallas Cowboys
Eli Manning- New York Giants
Michael Vick-Philadelphia Eagles

NFC- West
Sam Bradford- St. Louis Rams
Alex Smith- San Francisco 49ers
Russell Wilson- Seattle Seahawks
John Skelton-Arizona Cardinals

And the winner is!...
Lumberjack Ryan Fitzpatrick #1
Matt Cassell #2
Josh Freeman #3
Matt Stafford #4
Robert Griffin III #5
Sam Bradford #6
Jake Locker #7
Joe Flacco #8

Here's to a wonderful football season, Ryan!
Also this guy, because he rocks.

Lake Lure

Guest writer: Jessie
Last summer we all went to Vero Beach, FL and saw baby turtles hatching in the moonlight and heading out to sea.  This summer we headed to Lake Lure, NC and saw these novelties... (Equally impressive.)

The lake house was indeed a feast for the senses.  The decor and aesthetics spoke of true taste and gave one the feeling of  swimming with Ariel in her cavern of treasures below the sea.  I knew for sure though, that I was going to have a great weekend when I saw these...

The best VHS collection ever!  We sampled Willow and Three Ninjas.

House of my dreams just based on this.

My old dresser!

D.J. Tanner's bedspread.

The tiniest of all sitting areas.

You may ask, "Who has put together this awe inspiring collection?!?!"  I have no idea, but I am sure they are wonderful, and I know they are nice because they let us bum around their house all weekend for free.  So apart from marveling at the house, we did the following recreational activities...

  • Fishing (Kristin)
  • Canoeing
  • Feeding Sunchips to turtles
  • Eating
  • Swimming
  • Water sliding
  • Swallowing bees (Laura)
  • Dirty Dancing (because we were of course at the very lake where it was filmed)

Rowing out to explore!

(Dirty) Baby Turtle.

Mom turtle.

Found these beauties in the closet.

A secret pocket!

She is money!

Cuddle Time!

We loved it!
