Silas's Ninja Party

Silas is 6! Mr. Andrew can throw a good party. I am ruined for hosting, even if the price was a little hiya. :)

Camp Bobo 2019

It is crazy that this is our third year in the new cabin. The basement was coming along, so that will be a fun addition for next summer along with the t-shirts I won't drop the ball on making. We were  pretty touristy this year, which provided Silas with new adventures that I hope he remembers.
We drove on Saturday and headed to the lake on Sunday after breakfasting with Grandma Cain. Daron got to meet up with his friend Clint who is a new Missouri resident. We met Doll-doll at The Pizza Cellar Sunday night, and Monday was playing at the dock, touring Kanakuk where Trevor worked this summer, go-karts, and Andy's.

Tuesday we met up with Kristen and Bob at Silver Dollar City. Conn and I got to recreate our youth for Silas with Fire in the Hole, Grandfather's Mansion, getting robbed on the train, candle dipping, and the rising table in the mill restaurant.  He rode the balloons and some kiddie rides with the cousins but overall was less of a dare devil than I had anticipated.  He also hated the candy store after his peanut brittle taste test. He chose a smashed penny bracelet as his souvenir where said penny proved to be less lucky than it claimed as it is already missing. Rory spent his day napping in a kayak with Uncle Nathan.

Wednesday was zip lining, which I honestly can't remember if I had done before. Silas didn't flinch at that. Aunt Jan, Doug, Grandma, and Andrew visited, and we split into teams for an escape room face off. Notice the final times.

We boated and cooked out hot dogs on Thursday.  This is Silas proclaiming 4 hours until his birthday.

I think the uncles and cousins made it through four seasons of Survivor over the week. Here is a glimpse at tribal counsel. I think it is good to impart a foundation of scheming, backstabbing and sabotage at a young age.

On the actual birthday, Shelly visited, the folks rented a faster boat, and we went tubing. I think I have forty versions of this picture, all with Silas grinning from ear to ear.

The birthday boys.

The only bad things about the trip were a concussed deer that left a dent in our Kia, Daron's first ever traffic ticket, sandals and sunglasses that were casualties of the lake, and greatly dwarfing all others, having to leave.

Now we are on the last week of summer before I start back to work.  The glory of the break seems to be fully revealed only as it slips away. The contrast between it and the looming school year is probably heightened by the great week we just had with the people of my dreams.
