Thanksgiving 2013

My sister's family from Dallas came up for Thanksgiving this year.  Silas got to meet some more cousins! (The best kind of friends!)  We hung out in Columbia for a few days.  We made some slime, s'mores, turkey pretzels, Shrinky-Dinks, rubber band bracelets, had a scavenger hunt, ate out, ate in,  shopped a little, and mostly had a grand old time.  Then, because there is no way I am talented enough to be in charge of a holiday meal... and because my little home is a slightly cramped with 8 bodies...and most of all because there were more wonderful people to join the fun in Greenville, we headed there for the actual feast.

Two of my favorites together!
Once we got to Greenville we met up with Julianna and Justin and the Missouri part of the Thanksgiving Gang... Aunt Jan, Uncle Doug, Grandma Cain, and Andrew.  There were more shenanigans: hill rolling, a supermarket sweep, Minute to Win It, cooking, the wearing of many hats, eating, napping.  Justin fried another delicious turkey.  The green bean casserole was the best I've ever had.  It was Silas's first sleepover which went pretty well.  I think he got over some social anxiety being passed around so much. The lady in the church nursery told us last week that he was fine as long as no one made eye contact with him. (Potentially a red flag.)  We didn't get our number called this week to come pick up our screaming child, so he must have made some improvements.

We sure do love the people we get to call family!

Yum!

Silas and his good pal, Uncle Nathan.

Minute to Win It fun!  How many of you can say that you have seen your 82 year old grandmother stack dice on a popsicle stick held between her teeth?

The whole gang.

Now, on to the next holiday!
