June

Hello lazy days!

I am loving summer and feel like we are finding a good balance.  The end of the school year always has a sad goodbye kind of feeling and this year also came with several friends moving away. I was worried I would be bored and lonely, but so far I have warded that off with the drilling of sight words, perpetual temperature taking and medicine doling, and these more fun diversions...

Meemaw took us to a rodeo!

Edventure.

Silas enjoyed VBS at Shandon.

We have been librarying.  We checked out the Blythewood branch for Paddington story time and tried (and colored) a Knickerbocker Glory sundae.

We also visited our newly renovated main branch library downtown.  (It was laundry day.)

Silas got better at swimming solo with his lessons from Ms. Hannah.

Rory had his first pool day.

We also like inflatable pools.

This was my fellow sales associate for the neighborhood garage sale.

Rory's first haircut. No tears!

Birthday Boy

Rory's least favorite present for his first birthday was a virus that I think he picked up from a slightly questionable play area at our local children's museum.  Next time I am torn between exploration and germ concern, I think I will make the opposite choice.  His week long bought, paired with the bug he had two weeks prior made me forget what he was like as a healthy baby.  Poor guy. We had to cancel his blueberry picking party.  We did serve slightly stale desserts three days later at a small replacement gathering.  I got lots of snuggles, but am still a little sad that our partying did not fully reflect our joy at having a year with this sweet kiddo.

12 Months

We have taken a few steps but don't want to trade in our fast-as-lightening crawling yet.  He is getting the hang of most of his puzzles and toys, still exercises his healthy appetite, and Silas thinks he can say "Hallelujah!"  He cannot. He hates having his pants changed, loves nuzzling and screams anytime we leave his company.  The love is mutual.

Preschool Graduation

I mostly just feel sad about this.  I love his little buddies and Ms. Daneequa and Ms. Taunya.  Living Springs has been a great fit for him.  Ready or not, kindergarten here we come.

The musical numbers...
