May

Mother's Day was set to be fun until I ruined it by having a melt down over our homemade projector being a huge bust. We cooked out, tent camped, and did not watch the latest family movie on the side of the house when it got dark. Instead I threatened murder and cursed all the neighbors with their flood lighting.

Before it went south.

More of our friends are moving away. This was a last hurrah with Berks.

We got a new swing. Silas is only slightly worried about crashing into the tree.

An ice cream truck actually came through our neighborhood! I think we can check childhood off the list.

We had a three legged pet frog for a day. He looked depressed so we let him go. I felt guilty keeping him but worried about his odds on his own. We spotted him again the next week so his gimpness had not made him a direct lunch upon release. Also to clarify, the injury was prior to us meeting.

We are Sam's Club members for the next three months, thanks to my cousin. On our first trip I got frozen yogurt for the kids to eat while we browsed. This made them sticky and cold. So I served them a cart pizza dinner. This made them thirsty. Hard to win. Also, turns out our house cannot accommodate bulk quantities. We do have a lot of Fruit by the Foot on hand now. Not sure why any of this deserved to be written down.

Silas is into paper folding. I feel like this is about equivalent to the time I scribbled loops on paper and tried to convince my kindergarten buddies I knew how to write in cursive. His expertise is also undermined by the fact that he calls in "unigami". Our house is littered with crumpled notebook paper that I sneak in the trash when possible. Good sport that she is, Meemaw came over one afternoon for a tutorial. He seems pretty committed so maybe we will end up with boats and swans around here as he improves.

  1. I love your life tidbits, Jess! And cursed be neighbor floodgates indeed!! What kind of bandits is everyone worried about that people need full moons instead of porch lights?!
