October

This month was a fun one with Missouri and Halloween in the line-up! I got to see Trenton in St. Louis and Kristen. We went to a farmer's market, record shopping, walked around a little Octoberfest right in his neighborhood, and had the best Italian of my life. I also got to meet Rorschach. Then the folks taxied me to Kansas City to see Trevor. Dad and I got to read to his class. Conn and her fam met us there so we could all cheer him on coaching his freshman volleyball team. They did not lose! Also I got to meet up with Megan at the Rabbit Hole (most adorable book themed children's museum ever). It was a dream to be with my bookish friend in a bookish place with her adorable bookish children. They think I am an author because of a book I wrote and gifted to Megan in college. I will live off this high for a very long time. We had lunch delivered by train at Fritz's. Then I made my parents get up at 3:00 AM to take me to the airport. They are very accommodating!

The neighbors had gotten the boys tickets for the high ropes at the zoo, so we did that one Saturday. Rory got up, gave a big thumbs down, and got right back to the ground. The new skyway safari was open too so we got to ride over the river to the botanical gardens.

Silas had a Halloween costume concert at school which was pretty fun! He also got recognized for all A Honor Roll. Rory went on a field trip to my nemesis of a museum. The bus broke down on the way because it also thinks that place is dumb.

Halloween itself was one of our best despite the fact that neither of my kids wanted to dress up or trick-or-treat. We had the Brouceks over and I did a Monster Diner. They had to feel their food before ordering. Here is the menu. I feel like this is a Halloween childhood must do. Also I made a haunted escape room. We set up a Facetime so we could watch the kids figuring stuff out and provide clues, but they were very distracted by the camera and it was mostly chaos. They did end up unlocking everything, finding the skeletons, and lifting the curse. To give him credit, I think it was 90% Silas.

September

We went to see the Lumineers in Greeneville! Loved it! I swear that guy is as close to a twin of my brother, Trenton, as you can get. Get this...Trenton's girlfriend's coworker is Angela from the title song. I felt very connected... except that we were the only people over 30. Also we did not get the memo about needing to wear white dresses and hoop linked belts. The only song I wish they played was Morning Song but they literally played every other one I could have hoped for. We also went to see Nate Bargatze. He was as adorable as you could expect. I think we fulfilled our quota of buying tickets to events for the next three years.

This kid loves his tech. He has himself hooked up with an external keyboard, toggle that does what?, mouse, and headphones. All so he can watch a you tube video of someone playing Wobbly Life in a room by himself. Silas is officially our back yard lawn guy! He tried out and made a special orchestra that puts on a Medieval Times performance at his school. He also got the acting role of a squire. He didn't think he would get the part and when he did, he forwarded the email to me and Daron and Rory. As techy as he likes to be, Rory has never checked his email a day in his life. I still thought it was adorable. Silas also plays D&D every Friday after school until 5:30. Who is this teacher that said yes to that club??

We are loving our green space. We did a flag hunt through the woods with some friends from church Troop Beverly Hills style. We also had the Brouceks over for gourd decorating. Laura, Tatum, and Jack came to spend the weekend. I definitely realized I am out of mother-of-young-children shape. Bless those in the thick of it. Look how cute my fall mantle is!

August

Beach day!

Braces! I think he looks adorable with them. We are sad about gummies and popcorn, though. See you in 2 years!
