August

Now that school has started, I can't even remember the beginning of the month.

Silas is in Ms. Johnson's class and is liking the first grade. He picked his seat at Meet the Teacher night and when I went back two weeks later for Open House, he had been moved from the buddies of his choice for what I can only assume was excessive talking. Besides banging and crashing all over the house, he is good company.  He even put "snuggling mom" as his favorite thing to do on his "All About Me" page in the hallway outside his class. He also noted that his greatest fear is whales.  He is a liar.  He is also a white stripe belt in karate which we promptly quit after the summer special out of an even mix of cheapness and laziness.

Rory's is not so much a fan of school.  He is in a new class with Ms. Asia and Ms. Chelsea.  He spent an entire month crying everyday upon drop-off and for hours thereafter. We thought it was us leaving in general that did it, until we put him in the nursery at my cousin's church with total strangers and he didn't even flinch.  Should I be worried? His teachers do call him "Sausage" as a nickname, so that indicates affection, right? (Side note: Silas wanted a nickname too so they now call him Slim Jim.) He says "Mom" 500 times a day.  It should be annoying but I like it. It feels good to have a son that openly loves you. He can count to ten and is finally getting 5 in the right spot. His voice is super cute and even as he gives me stink faces and refuses to come in the house I pretty much just light up whenever he toddles up.

We ended the month at our most loved home away from home and it was heaven per usual and had the bonus of Andrew. The tent sleeping picture is my favorite, only imagine Silas's expression on Julianna's and my face as well.  We've already booked our next stay.

Football snuggling.  Daron is too committed a spectator to look away for a photo.
