Back at the Lake

The Nature Center

Grandma and Aunt Jan at Phelps Grove Park. No hugs hurt. I cheated and touched her finger. Went through a lot of albums while I was home and saw a picture of my sister's 6th birthday at the exact same pavilion.

Fishing is the worst.
Step 1: Pinch worm in pieces with your fingers.
Step 2: Impale it with a sharp barb multiple times.
Step 3: Drown it.
Step 4: Anticipate it being eaten by a predator.
Step 5: Pierce said predator with same barb.
Step 6: Extract hook from white bumpy part deep inside the mouth while fish bleeds and gasps.
Step 7: Feel altruistic releasing fish back into lake and casting again.

Crawdads at the creek.

June

Round Top end of the year parade.

Forever lining up toys.

Had a sleepover with Silas in our living room pillow pit. Spent the night talking about our favorite chapters in Sideways Stories from Wayside School. A keeper of a memory.

Rory's Birthday

We had such a fun and chill time celebrating Rory's birthday. It might be my favorite party yet. If I didn't have to clean so much as a result of my recent sloth, it would have been perfect. I am not sure Rory ever really embraced that it was his birthday and he certainly can't hold up three fingers, but he is sure going to make a great three-year-old!

The weather is rarely accommodating for our celebrating but this year was like a miracle in that Sunday was hot enough for the water slide and Monday (actual birthday) was in the 60's for a day at the zoo. There was practically no one there and all the animals were out and frisky. Rory liked the crocodile. I love how God makes everyone think their kids are the best. I certainly do.
